I love getting mail. Sure, sometimes it’s bills, but often my mail carrier brings me delightful things like yarn and knitting books. This time, she brought me a package with a bottle of wool wash and a sweet handwritten note from my friend and fellow designer, Kristin Omdahl!
Kristin teamed up with Eucalan to create a new scent of their classic delicates wash, this time scented with Night Blooming Jasmine, called Wrapture. As I opened it, the scent was so enticing. I’m don’t normally gravitate toward many floral scents (I’m a woodsy sandalwood kind of girl), but the jasmine is delicate and beautifully balanced.
I picked out a few items to wash, some fingerless mitts and a crocheted chullo hat, and filled the sink with lukewarm water. I added a small amount of Wrapture; a dollop, or what I call a “bloop”, straight from the bottle. I swished it around and then added my woolies, gently squeezing them to be sure they were saturated. Then I let them soak for about 20 minutes before squeezing out the excess water and rolling in a towel. No rinsing is necessary with Eucalan, which I love. One less step! Then they went on the mesh drying rack.
A hint of that glorious jasmine scent stays with the handwashed items, so if you see me this autumn with my fingerless mitts pressed to my nose, you’ll know why.
Want to try Wrapture on your handknits? Kristin and Eucalan have very sweetly offered to provide a bottle for a giveaway! Leave a comment below before 8 am CST, Tuesday, October 30th, for a chance to win.
