My background in fiberarts began as a kid in Connecticut, sewing and crafting, and grew into a pursuit of a degree in fiber arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design (B.F.A. Fibers, 1999). My original major was sequential art (comic book geek), but tactile fibers drew me back in. I still draw pictures, too! I’m a former yarn shop owner, and was the creative mind (and hands) behind Kitchen Sink Dyeworks. The dyeworks closed in late 2011, so that I could focus on knitwear design full time.
My knitwear designs can be seen in Interweave Knits, Knitscene, Twist Collective, Fons & Porter’s Love of Knitting, Mason Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines, Lace Style, Knitty, as well as patterns for yarn companies such as Classic Elite Yarns, Malabrigo Yarns, and Harrisville Designs. A love of brioche knitting led to the opportunity to film videos/DVDs on the technique for Interweave Press, as well as my book, Brioche Chic.
I love to create patterns for stylish, easy-to-knit projects (and sometimes more piquant endeavors) that I love to wear (and I hope you will, too!). Want me to design for your publication or yarn company? Just send me a quick email and I’d love to discuss your project idea.
I live in the land of kudzu, AKA: Birmingham, Alabama. In addition to my constant obsession with knitting and crochet; I also love photography, sewing, embroidery, drawing, painting, bookbinding, cooking (and eating! Oh, the eating.), and running (who am I even kidding still having this on here?).
