Like my designs? Let me show off your yarn in an original design, teach your group something hands on and fun, or write about some crafty goodness for you.
design:
I specialize in womenswear designs that fit and flatter a wide range of shapes and sizes. My background as both a local yarn shop owner and indie dyer have given me hands-on experience in matching up gorgeous yarns with the patterns that suit them best.
I have a strong personal design aesthetic, and am happy to collaborate with you to tweak a design to best show off the qualities that make your yarn unique. Let’s create a beautiful combination of design and texture to offer gorgeous pattern support for your product. I’m happy to work with you in licensing patterns, creating new original work using your yarns, pattern support for yarn clubs, and product demos.
writing:
I love knitting. So much, in fact, that I built a career out of it. Let me show you the love, and write about knitting techniques, products, and events on a freelance basis for your publication. I’m also happy to write on other related subjects (that I may also be a little obsessed with…), such as creativity, indie business, social media, and self-promotion for painfully shy and sometimes awkward creatives.
teaching:
Have I mentioned I love knitting? You can hire me to teach at your event! Then I won’t look so crazy for yakking for two hours about yarny things to strangers in coffee shops.
I have over 10 years experience teaching at yarn shops, guild meetings, and knitting retreats on subjects including hand dyeing, embroidery on knits, crochet embellishments, brioche knitting, lace knitting, many (many…) sock knitting techniques, Fair Isle knitting, color inspiration, and the Magic Loop method. I’ll walk your group through new techniques and concepts step-by-step in my laid back, encouraging, wise-cracking style with fun, inspired results (and the other coffee shop patrons will thank you.).
and…
Have another project in mind that can’t be so neatly summed up? I’m intrigued!! Drop me a line at mercedes-at-knitn-dot-com and let’s talk about it.
