Learn Brioche Knitting!

Artemisia is on tour!

Have you stopped by the Rock and Purl blog today for the Artemisia blog tour?

We’re talking about engineering top-down set-in sleeves!

Yesterday, I guest posted at Mixed Martial Arts and Crafts to talk about overcoming the fears of new knitting techniques.

Hi I tried to comment on Rock and Purl but the comments weren’t working. I’m intrigued by the top-down set in sleeve technique that you describe in the post. I try to avoid sewing sleeves in- it is one area of knitting where I lack confidence and skill.I have done raglan top downs and even picking up set in sleeves and knitting down using short rows to shape the sleeve cap. Once I used Jared Flood’s instructions (From Vogue Knitting a while back) to knit the caps of set-in sleeves as I knit the yoke, but that was bottom up.  I was thinking that it should be possible to just reverse those instructions to do it top down. Anyway, it sounds cool. I’ll be looking at your other designs for a similar technique.

Thanks for visiting, Meredith! I’m enjoying my explorations into top-down set-in sleeves, too. So much to learn!
